Real Club de Golf Vista Hermosa appoints Clayton, DeVries & Pont

28 November 2019
Clayton, DeVries & Pont is proud to announce that it has been retained by Real Club de Golf Vista Hermosa.

Real Club de Golf Vista Hermosa is a large social club, where many of the members live in different parts of the country and only use it during vacations. Apart from golf, the club offers tennis, paddle tennis, horse riding, a beach club, crocket and a lot of different social activities. The 9 holes golf course was originally designed by Gonzalo Lavin Sr. who was a disciple of Javier Arana and who later also partnered with Severiano Ballesteros to design golf courses. The course at first looks easy, but players quickly discover that it defends itself extremely well, without serious influence of water or highly contoured greens.

Over the years 45 years since it was founded the golf course has been modified several times for various reasons. Therefore, after almost 5 decades the board of Vista Hermosa feels that it is time to analyse the golf course again and has therefore decided to hire an expert golf architecture firm to put together a plan.

Vista Hermosa already is a strong and interesting course, and it is clear why the members are so proud of their golf course. It has an intelligent routing with good variety, makes optimal use of the very limited space and available topography, has many good holes with interesting approach shots and a high level of maintenance quality. However, there are several areas where the course can be improved and lifted to the next level, and we will be working hard on identifying them and describing our suggested resolutions.

IVista Hermosa’s site has a big advantage, namely it is blessed with being located on pure sand. Although there are space constraints that will need careful consideration, I am very confident that we will be able to improve the already good course in an imaginative manner.
