Our design philosophy builds on the traditions of classic golf course architects such as Harry Colt, Tom Simpson and Alister MacKenzie, all of whom were prolifically active in the early part of the 20th Century.
They shared a common credo that the excellence of their work should be defined by a strong focus on designs that embraced both nature and strategy. Infinite Variety was a phrase frequently used by these men and their peers in their writings. The term's inference is that every hole, every green and, indeed, every key detail of a golf links should be slightly different. Their ideal was to emulate the perfect variations that only nature herself can create.
Below you see the twelve design principles that we use in designing, restoring and renovating golf courses.
