Rebuilding holes 5 and 6
Toxandria is a Colt/Morrison heathland course in the south of the Netherlands that was built in the same time period as Eindhovensche and De Pan. Although built on terrain less spectacular than that of both other courses, it features some very good par 3 holes and some of the wildest inland fairways you will find on a Colt course in Holland.
About twenty years ago the routing of the golf course was changed when two original holes were abandoned due to logistical reasons and two new holes were built to replace them. Unfortunately neither the design nor the landscape in which the holes were built fitted very well with the other holes, and these new holes therefore never really blended in with the rest.
Some years ago the opportunity arose for the club to purchase some extra land, which allowed for a redesign of the two new holes. We at IVGD received the mandate to redesign the two holes in such a way that they would fit in better with the other holes and to make sure the Colt principles would be present in the design.
We made a detailed 3-D design of the new holes, which allowed us to accurately determine the amount of cut and fill and gave the club the a good feel of how the new holes would look.
The work is carried out by contractor Verschoor, assisted by the greenkeeping team, and IVGD is closely involved in monitoring the building work of the holes.
